Expect a book review and sundry other things next week to appear. Until then I’m off to Vegas for a weekend get-a-way with a friend as a last hurrah before she gets married in November.
Working on an idea for Nanowrimo. Yes, I am going to participate even though I have a wedding to attend to on the 1st.
More details to come

Words – so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.

I’ve been writing technical stuff. Patterns actually. And I have to tell you, it’s hard. I know all the terminology simply from following other patterns, but writing one from the ground up-getting the phrases/directions just right so that others will understand it-that’s more involved.
I can follow the pattern from my notes, but that’s because I came up with it and am used to reading my pigeon notes. No one else can though. Which isn’t all that great, especially if I want to sell the pattern. It’s a slow process and I try really hard not to get over worked by the entire thing. I set a goal for me this weekend. Finish one complete pattern. Just one. Work it, write it, and turn it into a pdf.
I picked up a book to read yesterday. I haven’t really read anything since I tried to read Twilight, at least nothing that amounts to fiction. I started in on a new L.J. Smith book. Something called Night World. Each book contains three stories. Each of the stories seems to be long enough to be books in their own right. So it will be interesting to see. I’m not certian if these were published individually and this is simply a reprint (publishers recently reprinted the Vampire Diaries in a similar fashion) or if this is the way they were meant to be.
Haven’t done any writing on Pulse or any of the other forum stories and the girl is still sitting in the back of my head…

I came across a name the other day that I absolutely adore. Then I came across some pictures of a model that suited the name to perfection (a lot of my characters have pictoral references so I have something visual to look at.)
I now have a character that I know absolutely nothing about (other than her name and what she looks like). She’s been sitting at the back of my brain for three days now. Very ethereal, waiting patiently for me to bring her to life. It’s such an odd feeling.
I don’t know what she does, or where she’s from. What she likes or dislikes. I don’t even have a concept for her! I’ve never had a character turn up like this before. And believe me, I’ve tried not to think about her. But every time I turn around or let my mind wander–there she is.
I wonder how long she’s willing to wait…
