Friday Wrap Up

May 30, 2008 · 2 Comments

This weeks FWU is brought to you by Chocolate…

  • This weeks progress on Shades of Grey was slow
  • Working out an outline for the story to follow and to keep us relatively on track is proving to be more difficult than originally thought.
  • Has anyone ever heard of a YA series called Vampirates? (It exists!)
  • Spent a lot of time this week talking about books with friends.
  • I’ve been into a bookstore 4 times this week and didn’t buy a single thing!
  • Decided that I am long over due for another book review. One will be forthcoming this weekend.
  • I went an entire week without reading blogs or writing posts. This must be remedied.

Picking Up Strands

May 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

May is almost over and I have very little in the way of actual writing to show for it. I had every intention of writing a drabble every day this month. Good intentions pave the road to hell they say. Well, this road is littered with them…

Words To Think On

May 22, 2008 · 2 Comments

Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it. – C. S. Lewis (1898 – 1963)

An interesting thought when you think about how many people don’t write because they think that their ideas aren’t original enough…sometimes I just need a reminder.

Friday Wrap Up

May 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

All things considered. It’s been a slow week…

  • Didn’t write a drabble every day. Am rather saddened by this. It’s strange.
  • Poured over notes and made new notes for the June SoCNoC-mostly character ideas.

A slow week indeed. But at least I am starting the research, maybe I’ll have a plot hammered out before I actually start the writing.

Pay Attention To Henry

May 14, 2008 · 3 Comments

Yup, that’s right. Henry, my cat, looked at me this morning with this look of chastizment (is that even a word?) and chattered away about how I haven’t been paying attention to him enough the last two days. Why haven’t I? Because I have been researching for my June writing project.

I’ve been sifting through old notes from 3-4 years ago. I’ve got about 20 different characters to play with as well as about 300 years of history. Now I just have to figure out exactly what the plot is going to be.

It would probably help if I could decide which character to focus on. My problem is that they are all really well put together and I want to write about them all.

I will stew on this for a few days see if I can puzzle out a plot to go around the history that I have written down. In the meantime I will pay attention to Henry.

Friday Wrap Up

May 9, 2008 · 2 Comments

Look at that! I am writing my Friday Wrap Up on Thursday evening.  (I can’t seem to fix the time stamp thingy in the preferences to set it to the correct time – so it says I wrote this on Friday…)

  • This week was productive wordwise!
  • I managed to update every one of my blogs
  • I designated the Month of May officially as Drabble Writing Month and have posted TWO drabbles over at room7609. There is actual fiction!
  • I started to go over some ideas for June’s writing challenge.
  • It kinda creeping me out that I am starting to dream about characters…

Starting To Remember

What can I say about this drabble? Ariadne Ashteroth-Lyrander is another character that came to life during the course of an rpg. She started out as a debutant that didn’t know a thing about the world outside her ivory tower. So much happened to her over the course of the game that when it ended she wasn’t the same character I started with.

Thanks to the expertise of the GM who ran the game I had the foundations of a wonderful story that I have been trying to capture ever since the game ended almost two years ago. This particular drabble is my vision of something that was only alluded to in passing during the game but was significant to the development of Ariadne’s character.
